Salary | up to £45,000 |
This role will focus on technical excellence and developing an established team of Acoustic consultants based in Manchester for a leading multi-discipline consulting firm. Your role will focus less on business development, but more on driving efficiencies, leading on complex projects (large infrastructure schemes, science technology parks, universities, care homes) and growing the existing team with BD input from other directors.
Technically, the role focuses predominantly on Environmental Noise projects, but given you will have around 12+ years experience in acoustic consultancy you will be expected to be comfortable handling projects across all aspects of acoustics.
The role:
• Provide technical leadership on large, complex environmental acoustics projects.
• Act as a technical approver of acoustics projects.
• Lead on, and drive, technical learning and development opportunities for the team.
• Lead on project management for multidisciplinary projects where acoustics is a key factor.
• Mentor team members and develop them to bring improvements in their skills base for project management and financial management.
• Work as part of the Acoustics and Air Quality leadership team to develop and implement efficiencies and operational procedures across the service.
• Undertake proposal preparation for a wide range of schemes including complex development opportunities.
• Work with the Acoustics and Air Quality leadership team to manage the incoming work stream and work collaboratively on projects across the business with the wider team.
• Support our clients on projects both locally and throughout the UK as required, managing existing relationships with current clients
Experience sought:
• Excellent environmental acoustics technical skills with demonstrable experience of leading on large, complex acoustics projects for key clients in a range of sectors.
• Able to demonstrate a strong reputation for excellence and knowledge in environmental acoustics, construction noise and vibration.
• The ability to mentor other team members across the grades and provide learning and development opportunities, with experience of line management and, ideally, team management.
• Ideally, an awareness of other areas where the Acoustics and Air Quality Service may seek opportunities, such as dispersion modelling, indoor air quality and odour.
• Demonstrable experience of project and financial management.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to adapt communication style to suit different circumstances.
• A proactive approach with drive, positivity and enthusiasm and a strong desire to succeed.
• An ability to prioritise workload and manage resources to ensure efficient delivery of projects.
• Highly self-organised and able to deliver projects to time, quality and cost constraints.
• Able to implement technical efficiencies across the acoustics team and work with the leadership team to evolve organisation across the service.
• Commercial acumen, with an ability to develop and maintain client relationships and secure new business.
• Keen to keep learning to improve own breadth of knowledge and technical expertise.
• Experience of using acoustic software packages such as CadnaA, as well as GIS packages.
• Willingness to travel and a full driving license.
• Full member of the Institute of Acoustics (MIOA)
